Sleeping Kids (3 days new)

I captured this video this morning, when I went outside to feed & water the animals. My husband and I mostly share these chores. I feed and he waters. It works well for us.The footage is taken in our old barn. We built it in 2007 to stable our horse, Jasmine. We had no idea what we were doing, but we knew we wanted her to have a 12x12 stall and lots of light, so we added 2 sliding windows. It has sufficed for these past 5 years, but since, we were building it by the seats of our pants, so to speak, it was not very well built. This Spring, I will capture our new barn raising. The new structure will be airy, too with plenty of windows, but will also be built for how our farm WORKS. This new barn will have plenty of stalls for the bucks, does, and horse to live in and will also have 2 kidding or hospital stalls and a milk room.

The stars of this video are snoozing. They had just laid down when I went in for the grain pail and were sound asleep by the time I had returned. Ellie was feeling quite friendly today and Jedi made a visit to check out the new additions. I was poorly prepared for filming this morning; my batteries ran out and I missed taping a delightful scene. What I was so blessed to see (yet fail to capture) was a wonderful few moments when Jedi and Ellie were rubbing their heads together and nuzzling. It was such a sweet, tender sight. I am going to try to catch them doing it again another time, to share with you.

Our first babies are Asher and Abigail. They were born April 1, 2012 at 9 pm. Their mother, Ellie, came to us pregnant this Fall 2011. Their father Rudy lives on another farm. The kids are 3 days old here. I will be posting footage of them in action in the days and months to come. I guess, with milk available to process, this makes us all official.

For now, if these cuties don't make you smile, I don't know what will!
