Hiking with Goats

Sierra and Sammy, Kristen and Meaghan enjoy their hike with Anna and Chloe goats.
Anna & Mason 2016
Join the folks at Lally Broch Farm and their eager herd of dairy goats for short hikes on Mount Waldo in Frankfort, Maine this Spring, Summer, and Fall. Your private group (of up to 6 people) will meet at our homestead and greet the goats and their bouncing kids. When you are ready, we will take a short drive to Mount Waldo to hike to the quarry pond. This short hike is suitable for all activity levels and age groups, but it is not wheelchair accessible. Along the way, enjoy the goats nibbling on greenery while your guides point out wild harvest edibles that you might try, too. At the top, take a break and refresh yourself with a light snack. Perhaps you might like to try some fresh chevre and bread or crackers or seasonal organic fruits and water or herbal iced-tea. Local folks swim at the quarry and you might like to dip your feet in the cool, fresh water. After the hike, your group is welcome to come back to the homestead and visit with the animals. Perhaps you might like to feed them treats.

You may add on additional activities such as goat's milk soap making* or feta cheese making** classes. We are happy to accommodate larger groups on different days than those listed below. Please contact us for reservations of more than 6 people. Sean Twombly 207-323-4982 (This is a message phone. We will call you back as soon as we can.) Or send us a message on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/lallybrochfarm.

*Goat's Milk Soap Class, your group will work together to make 4 bars of goat's milk soap to bring home. You may reserve as many tickets as needed for the amount of soap your group would like to create. If you are local, arrangements will be made to pick up your curing soaps when they are ready for travel. If you are not local, your artisan soaps can be mailed to you.

** Feta Cheese making class, your group will work together to make a batch of fresh feta cheese to take home with you that day (approximately 30 oz) and instructions for finishing the ripening process. Bring a stock pot to transport your cheese.

When reserving your ticket, you are reserving ONE ticket for your group of up to 6 people. The cost for this ticket is $100 for the GROUP of 1-6 people.  If you are interested in your group participating in either or both add-on activity, select ONE group ticket for those. The Soap Making group ticket is $25. The Cheese Making ticket is $50. If you have any questions, please contact us.
